The Ho'omana Energy Attunement is drawn from Huna, the ancient Hawaiian spiritual tradition that was known in older times as Ho'omana and that legend traces back to Mu, the continent said to have stretched across the Pacific and left only its mountain peaks as Hawaii, Tahiti, Polynesia and New Zealand.

The manual, compiled in 2003, presents Huna as a way of life rather than a religion, one you can practice while keeping whatever faith you already hold. Its foundation is the awakening and integration of three selves: Ku the subconscious, Lono the conscious and Kane the higher self, and the attunement work is organised into the three Orders that carry those names.

It also teaches the seven basic principles as skills to develop rather than talents you either have or lack, among them Ike, seeing, everything is a dream we dream; Kala, clearing, everything is connected; Makia, focusing, energy flows where attention goes; Manawa, presence, now is the moment of power; and Aloha, blessing, everything is alive, aware and responsive.

The manual credits the researcher Max Freedom Long, who in the 1900s found that the root words of the Hawaiian language carried the coded teachings of the Kahuna, the priests of the tradition.
